England
England are heading to South Africa this summer as one of the favourites to lift the World Cup in July, they will be hoping that this match against Algeria is a stepping stone along the way to bigger and better things. Whenever England head to any major tournament there is always a flurry of speculation and press interest as they have a world famous squad, a squad that is also expected to produce the goods despite flattering to deceive in recent years.
Fabio Capello has had a great run in the last couple of years and he will be aiming to lead the team to World Cup glory for the first time since 1966, in recent World Cups the team have not gone beyond the Quarter-Final stage which they will be eager to put right. There were eliminated in 2002 and 2006 at that stage and the likes of David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand will be looking to at least make the Semi-Finals this time around.
There are a few squad headaches for Capello to solve in the coming months,will he take four or five strikers? Will he take David Beckham to his 4th successive World Cup? Who will start in goal? As and when these questions are answered we will post the full 2010 England World Cup Squad list here for punters to study, in the mean time here are some of the key players that will feature in the squad fitness depending;
