England v Algeria Venue - Green Point Stadium

The match venue for this huge England v Algeria clash is the stunning new Cape Town Stadium or as it is more commonly known 'Green Point Stadium', it is a brand spanking new stadium located in the Green Point area of Cape Town and looks set to host some of the biggest matches at this Summers World Cup.

The stadium will have a capacity of 68,000 which will please both the English and Algerian fans who are hoping to make it to South Africa, in total the stadium will host eight matches in the World Cup including one of the Semi-Finals making it one of the top venues on show. The stadium was officially named the Cape Town Stadium in December 2009 as it was thought that the name would bring the most attention for the city, it sits right by the waters edge and is now part of the stunning landscape of the City which the world will see in the Summer.

Building work on the new stadium started in March 2007 following the demolition of the smaller Green Point Stadium, the venue was completed by the end of 2009 and cost around $600million to build. The South Africans are delighted with the result and are eager to show their creation off to the world and there will be no better opportunity than when England come to town on the 18th June.

Following the World Cup the South Africans are keen to ensure that the stadium does not become a white elephant so the capacity will be reduced to 55,00, the aim will be to use the stadium as a multi-purpose sports stadium as well as hosting music concerts and other events.
